Finnish basic income experiment

Evaluation of the Finnish Basic Income Experiment, Kela evaluation abstract, by Olli Kangas, Signe Jauhiainen, Miska Simanainen, and Minna Ylikännö.

The 2017–2018 experiment randomly selected 2,000 people aged 25–58 receiving unemployment benefits for an unconditional payment unaffected by employment or entrepreneurship income. The abstract reports six more employment days relative to the control group during the one-year assessment period and better wellbeing on several survey measures.

It tested a temporary payment to unemployed people, not a permanent one to a whole population.
